Dr. Delay: Fixes for bumpy St. Petersburg railroad crossing coming ... at some point

CSX and the city are talking about the shared responsibility. A CSX spokesperson says repairs are months, though not years, away.

ST. PETERSBURG — A reader complained to the Doc about a rough CSX railroad crossing at 2300 22nd Ave. N and wants to know when it will be repaired.

Cyndi Schultz, the director of media relations and public affairs with CSX, says they haven't had any reported incidents at this crossing so that could be the reason why it hasn't been fixed yet.

But since the Doc’s question, CSX has inspected the crossing, and is talking with the city of St. Petersburg about repairing the deteriorating timber surrounding the tracks.

The only question remaining is when. That, CSX can’t say.

"Legally until it's agreed upon, we cannot provide a timeframe," Schultz said. "But it's closer to months than years away."

Brejesh Prayman, the director of engineering and capital improvement with the city, said this project is something they've been following up on for a long time but haven't gotten an update until recently.

"We know they're planning to maintain it," Prayman said.
