CLEARWATER — A 17-year-old girl trying to get onto her school bus was struck Wednesday morning by an 18-year-old driver who then took off, police said.

Officers later arrested Domenek Marie Bryant on a charge of leaving the scene of a crash involving injury.

The incident took place just before 7 a.m. at N Betty Lane and N Sedeeva Circle. The 17-year-old, whose name was not released by police, was trying to board a bus for Dunedin High School when police said she was struck by a silver Honda Civic.

The Civic did not remain at the scene and instead drove off. The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics. Family later took the 17-year-old to a hospital to be treated for lower leg injuries.

Clearwater police sought the public’s help in identifying the Honda Civic and its driver. A photo of the Civic released by police appeared to show that it suffered damage to the left front end and hood.

Police did not explain how Bryant was identified. She was booked into the Pinellas County jail late Wednesday but the jail had no information about her.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Clearwater police at (727) 562-4242.
